A leaked image of the Google Nexus 7 also surfaced on Google's Play Store servers shortly before the preview video appeared on YouTube.

Google unveiled its new 7-inch tablet during its Google I/O keynote earlier today.

The company also revealed the specifications on the tablet that includes a 1080 x 800HD display, a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 12-core GPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC (near field communications), and a chrome browser.

The Google Nexus 7 tablet will retail for $199.

This basically places the device into the same market as the successful Amazon Kindle Fire. However, the specifications on the Google Nexus 7 are slightly more impressive.

It is the "world's first 7-inch tablet with a quad-core processor" and also features a front facing camera. It functions as an all-in-one entertainment device connecting users to Google's ecosystem more efficiently than any other tablet released in the past.

The device runs Android 4.1, Jelly Bean that also debuted at Google I/O earlier today. The new software brings some needed enhancements to the Android platform including improved widgets and redesigned notifications.

Customers can order the device online starting today, and it will ship in the middle of July.
