Rumors have continued surrounding the Google Nexus 7 tablet $99 model's release, with DigiTimes reporting for the second time this month that Google plans to launch the low priced version of their popular tablet sometime in the near future.

The publication stated that Taiwanese-based manufacturers have confirmed to them that the tablet will launch in the fourth quarter of this year.

This $99 version of the wildly popular tablet was first mentioned in DigiTimes earlier this month. However, Asus, the company that is expected to manufacture the device, has denied those claims, so the rumor should be taken with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, NPD DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shym stated this week that the device will enter production in December.

The Google Nexus 7 received a software update last week, bumping it up to Android 4.1.2 JellyBean.

Android 4.1.2 brings the rotation ability to the homescreen and is expected to improve performance significantly from Android 4.1.1. It also has a smoother user interface, fixes various bugs, makes device functions more stable, and features new versions of the Google Play Store, Google Play Music, and Google Play Magazines.

A 32GB version of the Google Nexus 7 once again made an appearance showing up on the Staples Advantage website for business customers yesterday.

The tablet will be available on Oct. 18, according to the site.

The device is priced slightly less than the 16GB model showing that the 32GB version might be its permanent replacement.

The device was also recently discovered in a listing at a Carphone Warehouse store in the U.K. Shortly after it was found, a few Droid Life readers reported that they found the tablet in the retailer's purchasing system.

It was priced at $259.92 and the reader also reported that his reseller is expecting shipments of the 32GB Nexus 7 sometime around Oct. 24 and called it a "special model."
