Samsung’s “Mobile Unpacked” event, where the company is expected to unveil its new Nexus Prime smartphone, will take place on Oct. 19, according to 9to5 Google.

The tech site received an invitation from Samsung that confirmed that the event would be taking place on that date in S221 Hong Kong Convention & Exhibit Centre at 1 Expo Drive, Wanchai, Hong Kong.

The company’s new Ice Cream Sandwich Android software is expected to debut at the event along with the introduction of the highly anticipated Nexus Prime smartphone.

No official information has been confirmed concerning what the company will actually unveil, but those the new software and the smartphone are the likely candidates.

“Mobile Unpacked” was originally supposed to take place last week during CTIA’s Wireless Power Summit 2011 in San Diego.

But after the death of Steve Jobs, Samsung pushed the event back in order to pay its respects to the late tech innovator.
