Google Nexus Prime Release Date: Will it Trump iPhone 4S?

Apple has already been defeated once by Samsung at this year’s T3 awards when the Samsung Galaxy S2 received the crown for best smartphone, beating out the iPhone 4.

With the upcoming release of the Samsung’s Google Nexus Prime handset, it is possible that Apple’s arch nemesis can once again claim smartphone supremacy at T3 beating out the new iPhone 4S.

Here is a comparison of the specs of both of these upcoming high-end smartphones.

The iPhone 4S will pack a dual-core A5 chip and an improved 8-megapixel camera capable of filming in 1080p HD.

The new Apple handset runs on the company’s new iOS 5 software which will include 200 new features.

Siri, the new voice navigation system is also part of the new iOS 5 exclusive to the iPhone 4S.

This feature allows users of the device to perform tasks by simply speaking into the phone.

It is described by Apple as an “intelligent assistant,” and is one of the handset’s biggest selling points.

The iPhone 4S will be released Friday Oct. 14 and is already available for pre-order in the U.S.

Google’s Nexus Prime smartphone was expected to be unveiled today at Samsung’s Mobile Unpacked event.

The handset’s release was delayed out of respect for Apple’s recently deceased co-founder Steve Jobs.

The Nexus prime will be the first Android smarthphone to use Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest in Android software.

Some of its rumored specs include the device having 1GB of RAM and a 1.5GHz Exynos dual-core processor, along with a curved 4.65-inch 1,280x720-pixel Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen.

These specs are based on a recent report by CNET U.K. and if they are accurate, the Nexus Prime is in the same spec range as the iPhone 4S.

No official release date has been confirmed by Samsung.

The iPhone 4S has already broken records selling over 1 million pre-orders and will ship Friday Oct. 14.
