Google Pixel 2 Rumors, Predictions: Two Versions May Be Released

The mobile phone arena is considered one of the most cutthroat competitions to be in, and as such, each company pitted against the other is coming up with various ways to gain an advantage. With this in mind, Google may be thinking of creating not one, but two models that will cater to a wider audience.

An anonymous source has told 9to5Google that Google could be planning to create two versions of the upcoming Google Pixel 2. This is to address the cost of the phone when it finally sees the light of day — meaning, the company is not holding back in creating a high-end smartphone.

The main focus, according to the tipster, is said to be on the phone's camera, and is currently being tested with improved chipsets from different manufacturers, which can prove to be costly. Rumors of waterproofing also arise but is said to be "on the table" still, but if it does come to fruition then it definitely is one of the price justifications.

The more expensive, cutting-edge technology smartphone will be retaining the name of Google Pixel 2. The other phone, which is said to be cheaper than the originally planned model, will have a weaker specification compared with the former obviously and is said to be named "Pixel 2B."

Another factor that would contribute to the unreleased device's cost is the processor. There are unconfirmed reports that Google may be playing around with different providers for processors, and certain names come to mind like Qualcomm, Intel and MediaTek. If anything, this simply means the new smartphone is gearing to be one of the fastest yet.

These are, of course, speculations for the time being and should be taken with a grain of salt. Given the many predictions, however, it just goes to show the kind of hype the Google Pixel 2 and the rumored cheaper version is creating that is catching the attention of tech junkies.
