Google Places JellyBean Statue in Front of Googleplex for Android 4.1 Release

Google now has a statue that looks like a giant glass spilling jelly beans onto the grass in front of Building 44 at the Googleplex.

The company placed the statue in front of the building this morning and it seems that it is attempting to build up anticipation for its upcoming Android 4.1, JellyBean OS by display it just days before the software's unveiling.

The statue is surrounded by some their popular representations for past Android software including a cupcake, an éclair, gingerbread, and a froyo.

Google is expected to unveil the Android 4.1 tomorrow at Google I/O keynote.

The company has not made any announcements regarding the new OS, but has provided the public with plenty of hints towards the choice of that name for Android 4.1.

It was even called JellyBean in a checkout screen in the Google Play store.

DroidLife posted up screenshots last week that showed Google listing the new software as Android 4.1, JellyBean.

The website also found other proof of this in an XDA Developers forum where a user posted similar image for the unlocked Galaxy Nexus available in Google Play.

Little is known about its features and UI Improvements at the moment.

The latest version of Android software available is Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich. ICS launched on the Galaxy Nexus smartphone that was released at the end of last year.

It ushered in a slew of changes to the platform including Facial Unlock and Panorama photography. The ICS upgrade has rolled out for many smartphones and tablets in countries around the world.

Ice Cream Sandwich is currently being used on 7.1 percent of all Android devices, according to a Google bi-monthly report released earlier this month.
