A 120 fps frame rate would also be possible, which will be supported on 1080p Full HD resolution. This would allow slow motion videos to be captured fluidly in high definition. There will also be image stabilization, but will most likely be possible for resolutions lower than 4K for the forthcoming GoPro Hero 5.

GoPro Hero 5 is also expected to use a new chipset line. It will be ditching the Amberella processor range in favor of the Snapdragon 800. This chipset was mainly built for mobile devices when it was launched, but is more than capable to power the action camera.

Design

The leaked GoPro Hero 5 images that have surfaced online shows that this version will feature a form factor which is very much alike to its predecessor. The action camera will still follow the rectangular design language with the lens and small screen in front. The touch-capable LCD display can be found at the back. For outdoor activity purposes, the body will be covered in black rubber.

Sensors and Connections

The GoPro Hero 5 is rumored to pack a Light sensor. The standard microphone feature will also be back. However, the Wi-Fi chip would most likely be ditched in favor of Bluetooth 4.0 technology. This would provide faster and more efficient transfer speeds to other devices, as well as an improved overall battery life.

GoPro Hero 5 is also reported to support cloud storage, which the company will be offering soon. Reports also say that the device will include GPS technology, as well as a new USB Type-C connector instead of the Mini USB.

Battery and Other Features

The leaked manual of the GoPro Hero 5 reveals that the camera will feature a limited voice operation control, allowing for turning the device on and off through voice command. Other possible commands are still under development. It will also come with waterproofing for up to 60 meters of water. The device will pack a 1220 mAh battery, which would last very long with the new power-efficient chipset and connections.

Price and Release Date

The GoPro Hero 5 is expected to launch along with the GoPro Karma Drone on September 19. The price is also expected to sit somewhere between $450 and $550.
