'Gotham' Season 2 Cast News: Jerome/Joker Actor Teases A 'Massive Carnage'

Aside from the young Bruce Wayne's (David Mazouz) slated transformation to Batman, fans of the hit crime-fighting drama TV series "Gotham" are also anticipating for the coming of The Joker.

Although not blatantly confirmed by the producers and writers of the show, it is strongly believed that Cameron Monaghan's sinister character Jerome would be the future Prince of Chaos.

The mentally-troubled carnival kid was last seen being locked up in Arkham Asylum after he was found out by detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to be the one responsible for the death of his own mother.

Despite being held up, Monaghan is pretty much convinced that the Asylum won't stop Jerome from becoming one of the most notorious villains in the DC Universe.

During his interview with Zap2it, the actor teases that Jerome will be causing "massive amounts of carnage" in the upcoming season.

You see exactly how dangerous a personality like his could possibly be," Monaghan further explained to the publication. "We see allusions to a very great villain."

The young star echoed what producers Danny Cannon and Bruno Heller previously clarified at the recently-held Comic-Con. The showrunners said that in the current stage of the show, the Joker is yet to be an "ideology" rather than an individual.

"It's less of a he and more of an idea. It's not about a man. It's about the ideology of a man and what that represents and how it affects other people," he explained. "I can say that by that ideology Jerome is very adept [at spreading it]."

Monaghan went on to reveal to Zap2it the pressure he faced of being given the task to portray one of the most recognizable comic book/movie characters.

"In many ways it's a love letter to 75 years of the character. I read as much as I could," he said. "I think he's a great villain, so I used it as an opportunity to pay tribute to many greats that I grew up watching. Hopefully, will be able to catch that."

"Gotham" Season 2 resumes its Fox airing schedule this Sept. 21.
