'Gotham' Season 1 Cast Member Nicholas D'Agosto Promoted to Series Regular

Latest casting news for the upcoming second season of Fox's hit crime-fighting TV drama series "Gotham" indicates that actor Nicholas D'Agosto will be returning to reprise his character Harvey Dent as a series regular.

A report from TV Line cited the "Masters of Sex" and "Heroes" alum's recent Twitter post announcing his new status in the DC TV show.

"Thank you to all of you @Gotham and #HarveyDent fans for your enthusiasm. I can't wait to join more of the fun as a regular in Season 2!" he wrote.

Dent was introduced back in season 1 as the young and ambitious Assistant District attorney in the titular city. D'Agosto was then involved in quite a few small guesting roles all throughout the season and is often in the good side with Ben McKenzie's fearless GCPD detective Jim Gordon.

For Batman fans, they may already know what Dent would become in the future. Like Gordon, Dent is eager to get rid of Gotham from its diseases of corruption and rampant crimes.

However, Dent's manic temperament (which was already hinted in the TV series) and other unfortunate events will eventually lead him to become the bipolar, coin-flipping, criminal mastermind named Two-Face.

However, "Gotham" may not seem ready to portray Dent as the said supervillain in Season 2 as based on the comic book canon, Two-Face became what he is after Bruce becomes the Dark Knight. That is of course, if the Fox scripted program will remain true to its source material.

A lot of fans meanwhile hoped that the District Attorney would remain the righteous upholder of law in the next season as Gordon is already doomed to face a number of villains like Mr. Freeze and the earlier reported two unknown perpetrators, and the good detective could use another ally on his side.

"Gotham" Season 2 returns to its Monday timeslot on Fox this fall.
