'Gotham' Season 4 Spoilers: Fish Mooney Will Not be Resurrected

FOX's crime drama series "Gotham" has made a habit of resurrecting characters they kill off. But this time around, Maria Mercedes "Fish" Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) will be dead for good.

Speaking to Comic Book, executive producer John Stephens admitted that Fish's death in the third season of the show is set in stone.

When asked to respond to the rumors about Fish's revival, he responded, "I'm afraid that's it." He continued, "Now, that one was it. At a certain point, you gotta say 'Definitely.' People die at a certain point, and that's the second or third time they die [on Gotham]."

To recap, an infected Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) put an end to her life when he stabbed a sword right through her. With her last breath, she told Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) to take over Gotham or to burn it to the ground.

With that in mind, Cobblepot will strengthen his hold over Gotham City's underworld. Consequently, Gordon will have trouble taking him down.

In a previous interview with Fansided, McKenzie teased a lawless Gotham, where Jim is alone in his plight to stop crime. Even his partner, Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), will not lend him a hand. In turn, Jim will seek new allies. He is expected to associate with Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed), daughter of Don Falcone.

"Gotham" will introduce Sofia next season. With this new tandem, Jim will push himself to the limits in his quest to save Gotham from ruin.

Apart from Fish, another character who been brought to life before includes the Joker (Cameron Monaghan). Butch Gillian (Drew Powell) is another character that will be resurrected next season. He will return as a zombie called Solomon Grundy.

"Gotham" season 4 premieres on Sept. 21 on FOX.
