Grammy Nomination Announcements, Concert Tonight

The fourth annual “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!” has been scheduled for Wednesday night and will serve as the countdown to “Music’s Biggest Night.”

The 54th Grammy Awards Ceremony will take place in February and acknowledge today’s musical talent. The concert serves as the preamble to the awards show will see several live performances during the one-hour television special, as well as announce nominations in several categories.

“The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!” will take place at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater and see “Twilight” actor Taylor Lautner and Taraji P. Henson as a presenters. Performers include past Grammy Award winners as well as current nominees.

Performances by Jason Aldean, Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Rihanna, Sugarland, and many others can be expected during tonight’s concert. This year’s concert will also feature a special performance of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five members Melle Mel and Scorpio’s recording, “The Message,” by LL Cool J, Common, Rick Ross, and Lupe Fiasco.

Also performing tonight will be Nicki Minaj, Usher, The Band Perry, and Katy Perry.

“The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!” starts at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.

The Recording Academy which is responsible for the Grammy Awards boasts that the Grammys are “truly a peer honor,” where awards are given by and to artists and technical professionals for artistic or technical accomplishments and not sales or chart positions, according to grammy.org.

The Academy is comprised of “musicians, producers, engineers, and recording professionals dedicated to improving the cultural condition and quality of life for music and its makers.”

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 on CBS at 8 p.m. EST.
