'Gran Turismo Sport' Delivers Realistic Graphics in Closed Beta Clips

Racing aficionados are in for a real treat as Polyphony Digital's racing video game "Gran Turismo Sport" has launched its first closed beta which began last March 17. Participants were in awe of the sheer details, and some participants shared videos that will make one drool with excitement.

YouTube host Giantsouls has been kind enough to upload some clips of the experience. His first video shows cars revving up before the start of the race. If one didn't know any better, one would think the clip is an actual footage of the tracks, as everything looks very real. From the way the light reflects from the paint job until the texture of the clouds and the trees, everything is a life-like depiction of the real thing.

The second clip puts the player on a first-person view of the tracks. Aside from the truthful render of the environment, the user interface (UI) is definitely one for the books. From speedometers to mirrors and layout of the course, everything is at the player's disposal to achieve his optimum performance while staying true to a behind-the-wheels feel.

If anything, these two clips are proof of what the developers dreamed not only for the PlayStation 4 (PS4), but eventually for the PS4 Pro with a high-powered high dynamic range (HDR) TV. Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi tells Red Bull that the game is going to be able to display 10,000 nits, giving a huge dynamic range.

Yamauchi says on the official website that the closed beta is the start of great things. It optimizes the gamers' experience by taking into consideration the Driver Profile, matching each player against equally skilled opponents. This evens out the playing field and creates a desirable challenge, increasing its replay value.

"Gran Turismo Sport" has no specific launch date yet, but can be expected within 2017 as a PlayStation exclusive.
