GTA 5 Online Heists News, Details; Rockstar Explains New Delay

Among the most awaited addition to the hit action-adventure video game "Grand Theft Auto 5" Online is its multiplayer Heist mode.

As of publication date, the GTA 5 Online Heist DLCs "still don't have a concrete date." However, Rockstar's GTA Online Producer and Lead Mission Designer Imran Sarwar recently sat down with IGN.com to shed light on the many questions about the much-awaited game feature.

As for the question on why it has taken too long for the studio to release the update, Sarwar told IGN "To be honest, they just turned out to be a lot more difficult than we originally thought."

"Creating missions of that complexity for multiple players at the same time was much more difficult than we anticipated and every time we thought we were close, something would send us back to square one," he added.

The game designer also shared the challenges they have to face in making the Online Heists.

"One of the challenges is that unlike a heist in Story Mode, every player needs to feel central to the action at all times, and that's much more challenging than it appears," he said.

Despite all these issues, Rockstar did somehow manage to come up with a doable multiplayer structure that will surely put a smile to everyone's faces.

"After many months of designing, testing, rewriting and re-testing, we settled on the four-player structure that you will experience in the game. It took a ton of work from our programmers and mission designers to make it work at the level we were happy with," Sarwar continued.

Now the question still remains on when the Heists will arrive.

"We never want to have to move a date but if something is delayed, it's because it's not at the level we expect of ourselves. And while we're not there yet, we're getting close and Heists will be ready early in 2015," the game designer declared.

As stated, the online Heist mode will require "4 players all at rank 12 or above." One player from the pack will be designated as heist leader. Another requirement stated by Imran is that the team should own a "high-end apartment" where players can use to "set up the planning board."

Gamespot.com meanwhile shared in their report an update for the likelihood of GTA Online supporting Cross-Platform Play.

As revealed in their article, it is not "technically possible" as of the moment.

"Unfortunately, there is no technical way that we could enable players to play in the same lobby with one another across different types or generations of game consoles. It is also impossible to enable PC players to join console-based lobbies," Rockstar Studios told Gamespot.
