'Grand Theft Auto 6' vs. 'Red Dead Redemption 2': Which is Better and More Anticipated by Gaming Fans? News, Release Date and Development

"Grand Theft Auto VI" and "Red Dead Redemption 2" are both causing quite a stir in the gaming community since rumors about their respective release dates surfaced. Although no tentative dates are reported yet, the buzz did not die down since follow-up reports confirmed the development of these two anticipated games.

'Grand Theft Auto VI'

First to storm the scene is Rockstar Games' flagship GTA 6 which will serve as a sequel to the highly-successful GTA 5. The said installment is confirmed to be released initially for PlayStation 4 and Xbox, while PC version will follow afterwards.

Rockstar president Leslie Benzies said that ideas about GTA 6 are being consolidated. A posing problem right now for the developer is the difficulty of plotting GTA 6 in the calendar. This is because their focus right now is on GTA Online and not yet on the successor for the aging GTA 5.

Contrasting information also surfaced about GTA 6. Founder Dan Houser was asked subtle questions about game characters where he readily responded, qualifying the rumors that the game is indeed in the pipeline. Houser said in his response that the idea of a playable female character is not yet taken into account.

'Red Dead Redemption 2'

On the other side, the mayhem was seconded when rumors about "Red Dead Redemption 2" circulated during the E3 2016 event. No announcement was actually made; however, a statement was issued later on that the next installment of the western-themed game is indeed being developed.

Similarly, "Red Dead Redemption 2" has no confirmed release date. But, it looks like it will be out in a few months, considering that there is already information about how the gameplay will look like. There is a high possibility for a dual-character release and a fusion of two former protagonists, Red Harlow and John Marston.

The idea of multiple characters in "Red Dead Redemption 2" is not a surprise since Rockstar has already showcased the same strategy in GTA 5. In fact, three protagonists are intertwined in the immensely popular crime game.

At any rate, the next possibility of tangible information about GTA 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2 will be on August 17 in Cologne, Germany, where Gamescom 2016 will be held. Until then, gamers have no choice, but to be content with the current game editions, report bugs (if there are any), or submit ideas to Rockstar for potential inclusion in the near future.
