'Green Lantern' Reboot Rumors, News: 'Furious 7' Star Confirms Meeting With Warner Bros for Casting Talks

The "Green Lantern" reboot project once again points out to the involvement of a "Furious 7" actor who was previously rooted by fans to play as one of the Corps members.

Tyrese Gibson was at the Blu-ray outing for his latest film with the late Paul Walker in Abu Dhabi this week. The 36-year-old recalled how he got involved with the superhero talks as well as revealed some surprising developments that could suggest a casting deal.

"Well I was innocent from the beginning. I was at home eating a bowl of Lucky Charms in my drawers, my ugly feet were out, and I got about six direct messages on Instagram with photos of me as the Green Lantern," he told Collider. "This particular fan who did this fan art said that there was a community of people that had been talking for like a month and a half about who they think would be the best Green Lantern and they all picked me. I said to them, 'I took the oath, and I am going to commit myself to this process of seeing what's possible.'"

He went on to confirm that he had met with the people from Warner Bros. to discuss the role.

"I've already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we'll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that's not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there's a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can't. We'll just keep following up," Gibson continued.

At the Comic-Con International this month, it was hinted that the superhero pic will be called "Green Lantern Corps." Collider said that the movie will be "in the vein of a buddy cop movie, with two Green Lanterns at its center."

Aside from Gibson, the other actor rooted for a major role is Chis Pine (as Hal Jordan) who is also reportedly the love interest of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman in "Justice League."

The "Green Lantern" reboot is rumoured to hit the theaters by 2020.
