'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 News, Spoilers: Will Meredith Leave Seattle To Escape The Grief of Derek's Death?

A lot of fans have been wondering what's next for the hit ABC medical TV drama series "Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 after one of its beloved characters, Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) took off following a gruesome car accident in episode 21.

Show creator Shonda Rhimes meanwhile appeased fans that despite Dempsey leaving the long-running show for good, it would still continue to grow in some other ways.

"As Ellis Grey [played by Kate Burton] would say, 'The carousel never stops turning,'" she told IBTimes.

"Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character -- for Meredith, for me and for the fans," Rhimes said. "I absolutely never imagined saying goodbye to our 'McDreamy.'"

As expected by fans, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will drastically suffer Derek's absence.

In a promo video for this week's upcoming episode titled "She's Leaving Home," it looks like she might be leaving Seattle in search for a new place devoid of the painful memories of her dearest soul mate.

Mer is also seen telling her daughter about her plans.

"Mommy, where are we going?" Zola asks.

"Away, sweetie," the distraught mother replied.

Followers of the show were quick to speculate that Meredith might give up this time. But, that might not be the case at all.

Pompeo recently took to her social media to post a lengthy message which seems to tell that her character will never back up.

"There are so many people out there who have suffered tremendous loss and tragedy. Husbands and wives of soldiers, victims of senseless violence and parents who have lost children," the actress' Twitter post reads.

"People who get up each day and do what feels like is the impossible. So it is for these people and in the spirit of resilience I am honored and excited to tell the story of how Meredith goes on in the face of what feels like the impossible. I hope you will all join me on her journey."

How things will turn up for Mer will be revealed when "Grey's Anatomy" airs this Thursday, April 30 on ABC.
