"Meredith and Nathan have to confront their feelings when they are stuck sitting next to each other on a plane."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pompeo played down the idea of a romantic relationship between her character and Nathan.

"Don't get too excited," Pompeo said. "Whether you're ready or not, you have to make the leap; I don't know if she's ready."

A heart-to-heart between Meredith and Riggs may not be the only thing to look forward to in the upcoming episode. Based on the 20-second promo teaser released by ABC, it seems there will be an in-flight emergency happening in episode 20.

At first, Meredith goes to the comfort room where she is followed by Nathan. Then, the next sequence shows the plane experiencing bad turbulence. Oxygen masks drop from the compartments, bags fall on the floor and the people inside the plane panic.

The true nature of the emergency remains unknown, though some speculate that Meredith may just be dreaming or hallucinating the whole thing, considering how her last airline emergency didn't end so well as it claimed the life of her sister, an experience which still haunts Meredith.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 episode 20 airs on Thursday, April 13 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
