'Grimm' season 5 plot news: Tension between Hank and Nick; new character introduced

With a couple more months until the return of "Grimm," details about the upcoming season have been released.

According to Movie News Guide, star of the NBC series Russell Hornsby shared details on what to expect for his character this upcoming season. During the San Diego Comic-Con, Hornsby stated that there will be tension between his character, Hank Griffin, and partner Nick Burkhardt.
It was explained that Nick will struggle with the loss of his loved ones, which will cause him to drift away from Hank and pursue his own "grimm" activities. With that, Nick will begin to take more risks.

The previous season saw the death of Nick's mother and girlfriend. Thus, season 5 will present him in a darker light.
Hornsby expressed that he is happy with the progression of their relationship as the season will require a more emotional connection between the two characters. He also said to TV Equals, "When you look at what he's lost up to this point, I think there's a lot more at stake then there was even in the first season. When you lose your aunt who didn't know, it doesn't really set off the same amount of emotions as it does as losing your girlfriend and your mother, whom you've fought side by side with."

In addition, Nick will also have to deal with his relationship with Adalind since they both agreed to co-parent their new child. Executive producer Jim Kouf explained that the baby will bring a change in their relationship.
As for the rest of the characters, it was reported that Juliette will be featured in a coffin once the series returns. David Greenwalk, co-creator of the series, confirmed that Juliette has already seen the end. However, she will remain present in the show through several flashbacks.

It was also shared that they will be joined by a new character named Selena Golias, a survivor of an attack. The character will be played by Carlson Young, who starred in MTV's "Scream" as Brooke Maddox. It was reported that she will play a recurring role in the upcoming season.

Grimm season 5 is expected to return on Oct. 30.
