'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Cast News: Drax to Appear in 'Avengers 3'?

"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn and his brother Sean recently made an appearance at DragonCon in Atlanta to talk about his plans for the sequel to the movie.

According to Collider, one fan asked if Gunn had plans of bringing in more female characters in the sequel. The director confirmed that the movie will indeed feature more women, but not Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, as he wants Peter Quill to be the only earthling in the movie.

Meanwhile, Dave Bautista, who played Drax, is reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios to restructure his contract. A wrestling website called PW Mania says Bautista and his people are renegotiating his contract with the studios following the success of "Guardians of the Galaxy."

Cinamablend touted Bautista's performance as "one of the most surprising and fantastic elements" featured in the movie.

"Rather than being just a hunk of dumb muscle, the character was both one of the funniest and one of the most emotional in the movie, and the pro-wrestler turned actor disappeared into the role completely," said the website.

Now, aside from the movie's sequel, there are talks that Bautista could have a big role in the "Avengers 3" movie. This fuels online rumors that one or all of the characters of "Guardians" could be crossing over with the "Avengers" to defeat Thanos, who may use the Infinity Stones to become even more powerful.

Drax's crossing over to help the Avengers defeat Thanos makes sense, as according to the Marvel comics, Thanos was the one who killed his wife and daughter.

"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" is slated to premiere on July 28, 2017.
