'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' News, Update: Chris Pratt Calls James Gunn Sequel Pitch 'Perfect'

Following the breaking report about James Gunn having already completed the first draft for his upcoming superhero big screen offering "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," recent news came through pointing out to a "GOTG" cast member's reaction.

Although fans already know that the plot for the follow up of the 2014 blockbuster film would be a "story about fathers," Chris Pratt, who plays the role of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, further teased that the forthcoming movie is "perfect" and that it has brought "tears to his eyes" the moment it was revealed to him by Gunn.

He said that he's been talking with Gunn lately and while he can't disclose the full details of their conversation, he did impart his reaction about what the director has told him.

"What I will say is that his pitch and his idea legitimately put tears in my eyes. It is so good. It's so good. And I cannot wait to get started on it and I cannot wait for people to see what he's gonna to pull off with the second movie. It's gonna be so, so big and so good," he told Digital Spy.

"From what I understand, they were like – they heard it at Marvel and they said nothing. They were like, perfect. There was no micromanaging of the idea. They just loved it so much that they didn't have a note for it. It's going to be remarkable," Pratt added.

For those who missed it, Gunn previously told the press that GOTG 2 is "not really based on anything."

"The story for Guardians 2 is an original story that I came up with that I started working on actually while I was shooting Guardians 1, and it'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that," Gunn said during a podcast interview with Alison Rosen.

"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" is scheduled to hit the cinemas on May 5th of 2017.
