'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Spoilers: New Guardian on the Way?

Production for "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" has recently started and new details have been revealed about the upcoming movie, specifically about a new character joining the team of amazing guardians.

In a recent Q&A session on Facebook, James Gunn mentioned the coming of a new member of the cast. The director praised this new and mystery character whose exact role and name have not been revealed. He also said he is excited to introduce the new Guardian to the movie world. According to HNGN, Gunn said, "We have a new cast member playing a new member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and she was the most awesome and easiest person I've ever had to cast." There is no other detail about the new cast member, but it is expected that her identity will be revealed in the next few weeks or so.

A lot of moviegoers may only be familiar with the five Guardians who always save the day, though the comic books have a lot to say about other Marvel heroes who have had their fair share of saving the day as a Guardian.

Aside from the revelation of a new cast member, Gunn also slammed the theory that has been going around the Internet for some time now. Thanos is rumored to be featured in the sequel. According to Screen Rant, Gunn said the purple character won't appear in the movie.

No Thanos means no Infinity Stone. The news may come as a disappointment to many fans who have speculated earlier that one of the Infinity Stones will be unveiled in the movie. Apparently, Gunn and his team are looking at other storyline aside from the stones. Gunn thinks there are other movies that should feature the sacred Stones. Unfortunately, the "Guardians" franchise may be done with them.

"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" will hit the big screens on May 5, 2017.
