Guy Ritchie's 'King Arthur' Movie Cast News, Rumors: Djimon Hounsou in Talks to Join Cast

After the discussion with "Thor" actor Idris Elba fell through, another name came up for talks to join the cast member's list for Guy Ritchie's King Arthur movie, "Knights of the Round Table."

Elba was one of the first priorities to take up the role as King Arthur's mentor, according to Variety. Eventually, it didn't come to fruition. But it didn't take long for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow to find a replacement in a person of another Marvel Cinematic Universe actor, Djimon Hounsou.

If the talks came through the "Guardians of The Galaxy" actor will play a "Merlin-esque figure who trains and mentors King Arthur," the site said.

EmpireOnline dished out more information about the character that Hounsou will take up.

They said that he will take up "a version of Bedivere, who is credited in many of the interpretations of Arthurian legend as a noble and loyal member of the King's knights," the site stated. "He's apparently an older, wiser warrior and a right-hand man to Arthur's father who makes it his mission to train the young man for his true destiny," the media outlet went on to say.

The Guy Ritchie film will feature the acts of Charlie Hunnam who will play as Arthur. Reports also mentioned Astrid Berger-Frisbey playing Guinevere and Jude Law, who is still in the talks for a villain role.

The studio hoped that the upcoming film will "kickstart another franchise for Warner Bros.," as the story is reported to be told in a span of over "six installments."

"Knights of the Round Table" will open in theaters on July 22, 2016.
