Gwyneth Paltrow's White Caped Oscar Dress: Bold or Too Superhero? (PHOTO)

Gwyneth Paltrow won over fans with her red carpet appearance at the 2012 Academy Awards in a white caped gown.

Gwyneth Paltrow was not the first to arrive, but when she did she did not disappoint and quickly stole the focus of many fashion critics. Paltrow walked the red carpet in a pure white gown, designed by Tom Ford. The sleek gown had an added twist with an attached, long white cape.

The white cape fell effortlessly over the sleeveless white gown and Paltrow wore her long blonde hair tied back in a sleek bun. The 84th Academy Awards aired Sunday night.

Vanity Fair credited Paltrow with having the boldest look. "Boldest style choice of the night? Gwyneth Paltrow's white Tom Ford cape dress," the magazine wrote on Twitter.

Other Twitter users added their assent.

"Gwyneth Paltrow looks like an angel. A Whole Foods shopping, soy candle lighting, organic garden growing angel," Mikaela Schipani wrote on Twitter commenting on Paltrow's openness about her extreme health lifestyle. Some believe that her vocalization of her strict regime makes her appear pompous.

"Gwyneth Paltrow's super hero cape is just her way of reminding us she's better than us b/c she's running out of ways," Tess Rafferty wrote.

Still other fans were supportive of her look. "Tears of fashion relief. Thank you Gwyneth Paltrow," Shama Hussain tweeted.

"Gwyneth Paltrow just stole the show in Tom Ford. Hands down, just knocked everyone out of the park. Kudos. She and Colin, effortless," Details added.

After Paltrow appeared, others seemed to disappear quickly. "Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford killed it. Everyone else doesn't matter," Marc said.
