'Half-Life 3' release date scheduled in late 2017 or early 2018

"Half Life 3" is still scheduled to be released in late 2017 or early 2018, despite Valve not prioritizing the development of the video game, recent rumors suggest.

Valve has not released any official update about Half-Life 3, and previous reports have said the game is no longer being prioritized. Last month, however, an alleged former Valve employee put up a Reddit post saying Half-Life 3 is still set to be out by the fourth quarter of 2017 or around the first quarter of 2018, according to Christian Today.

In the Reddit post, the user said Valve has postponed the release of Half-Life 3 to make way for the "Left 4 Dead" game. In addition, the alleged Valve ex-employee said the developer is just waiting for the fans to calm down before they take the next big decision in developing and releasing the well-hyped game, the report relays.

The Reddit user, however, explained that development for Half-Life 3 has been halted for now and that no test version has been released.

Valve first released Half-Life 2 in 2004 and its final installment "Episode Two" came out three years after. Since then, the company has not released a follow-up to the Half-Life franchise, and no news about the release of Half-Life 3 has been officially announced. There were reports that Valve is already making a lot of money from its other games, so has not focused on Half-Life, the report details.

The game developer may have scrapped everything they have started building for the third installment of Half-Life and may start from scratch once again. There are also rumors about Valve leaving Half-Life 3 hanging for now while it is working on "Left 4 Dead 3," Yibada reports.

According to insiders, the gameplay for Half-Life 3 has already been completed. But since only 10 people are working on the game, it will not be released anytime soon, the report adds.

For now, the Reddit post of the alleged Valve ex-employee has not yet been verified and the true status of Half-Life 3 is still unconfirmed.
