French actor Olivier Martinez has confirmed that he and Halle Berry are engaged after weeks of rumors.
While in South Beach promoting his new restaurant Villa Azur, Martinez finally cleared the air.
"Yes, of course it's true," Martinez told the Miami Herald.
Rumors of the couple's engagement sparked after Berry was spotted wearing an emerald ring earlier this year.
In addition to confirming his plans to marry the Oscar-winning actress, Martinez debunked a jeweler who claimed he had designed Berry's emerald ring.
"There is a jeweler taking credit for doing the ring and it's a lie," said the actor, according to the Herald. "They have nothing to do with this."
Parisian jeweler Robert Mazlo, based in Saint-Germain-de-Pres, was the "real artist" behind designing the emerald sparkler, Martinez said.
The actor added that the Mazlo jewelers have been designing jewelry for "kings and queens for many centuries."
Martinez and Berry have been dating since 2010 when they worked together on the film "Dark Tide," which is scheduled for release this year.
Martinez was formerly linked to actress Mira Sorvino and singer Kylie Minoque. His marriage to Berry will be his first.
Berry has been married twice, and has divorced former baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet. She has a daughter Nahla, who turns four this month, with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry.
The 45-year-old won the Oscar Award for best actress for her role in 2001's "Monster's Ball."
Berry and her ex boyfriend Aubry are currently embroiled in a vicious legal battle over their daughter. He has reportedly asked the actress for over $15,000 a month in child support. Also, Aubry requested a "very large" clothing allowance for Nahla, as well as funds to take her to Canada to visit his family, according to TMZ.
Their child custody battle is scheduled for hearing on April 9.
