Halle Berry Takes Gabriel Aubry to Court Over Daughter's Hair

Halle Berry was back in court on Monday with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. The two seem to have a disagreement on how their daughter, Nahla, 6, should wear her hair. And while some might think that this is a trivial issue, for Berry, it is a matter of importance that her daughter should be able to wear her hair in its natural state.

The actress is demanding that the father of her first child should stop trying to change her hair. According to TMZ, Berry believes that her ex is trying to make their daughter appear "less African-American" by straightening her naturally curly hair and even getting her highlights while she was in his care. Aubry, who is Caucasian, is of French-Canadian descent, while Berry is the daughter of a Caucasian mother and an African-American father.

After some back and forth in the court, the judge ruled that moving forward, neither Berry nor Aubry can alter Nahla's natural hair texture or color.

The two have shared custody of the child since they broke up in 2010. Berry and Aubry went through some difficult times at court to get to the joint arrangement that they have today. Recently, Aubry even demanded that Berry should give more money for child support since he was unable to get any work ever since he got into a physical altercation with Berry's new husband, French actor Olivier Martinez. At one point, Berry even sought permission to move her daughter to France as she argued that the paparazzi and a convicted stalker were making her feel unsafe. The judge denied this request.

Berry married Martinez in July 2013 and gave birth to their son, Maceo, that October.
