'Halo 5: Guardians' to Add Grifball and Fiesta Modes

343 Industries announced it will be adding fan-favorite modes Grifball and Fiesta to "Halo 5: Guardians." The new modes will hit the game later this month.

Max Grossman, multiplayer designer, confirmed the addition of the new modes through a blog post at Halowaypoint. He said the returning game modes have been reimagined for "Halo 5."

The new Grifball mode is intended for those in the community who "desire more relaxed modes." And to make sure they "got it right," the developer even flew in Jeffrey "Nokyard" Fischer to their studio a few months before they started working on the new mode. The Grifball expert helped 343 Industries understand "exactly what is important to Grifballers." A Griffball Court that Fischer built will also be releasing with the mode.

Fiesta

Another popular mode, Fiesta, is coming back to the game as well. Although 343 Industries has confirmed the arrival of the classic mode, it has not provided any other detail about it yet. Players will have to wait for further announcements or until the mode releases to learn what changes the developer made to the classic mode from "Halo 4."

Assault

In addition to Grifball and Fiesta, players can also expect to receive the new Assault mode. The developer describes it as "an upgraded version of the classic Neutral Bomb Assault mode."

The new mode basically employs the same mechanics as the old one. However, instead of the ball spawning on the center line, in the new mode, the ball will spawn at a unique location each time it spawns throughout the match. The location has a fixed order, though, so players can learn to predict where the ball will spawn next.

343 Industries has also made some changes to the ball carrier mechanics. The goal was to improve upon the experience of previous "Halo 5" games where carrying the ball "felt like work." The update will provide ball carriers with an extra thrust. Their melee attacks with the ball will be an instant kill. The developer also implemented the "Spotting" mechanism in Capture the Flag.

Again, the new modes will be included in an update that's slated to roll out later this month.
