'Halo: Nightfall' Film News: March Release Date Not Happening After All

"Halo: Nightfall" fans will be disappointed to learn the March 17 release date of the film comprising the five-episode digital Xbox live-action TV series will not be taking place on the originally publicized date.

When gaming websites announced the much-awaited Ridley Scott-produced series of five live-action episodes to be condensed into a feature-length film, "Halo: Nightfall" on March 17, they weren't expecting the show's representatives to announced that the North America release hasn't been finalized yet.

Excitement over the live-action television series set in the events connecting "Halo 4" and the upcoming "Halo 5: Guardians" had already reached a fever pitch, with Microsoft issuing a teaser trailer of the Sergio Mimica-Gezza-directed feature-length film. However, representatives for Scott Free Productions and the Halo Channel announced the film wasn't available for launch as of yet.

The story of legendary bounty hunter, Jameson Locke, an agent for earth's most powerful military branch, the Office of the Naval Intelligence (ONI), will be told at a final release date to be announced in the coming month.

The digital feature-length movie, which stars Mike Colter, Steven Waddington, Luke Neal, and Christina Chong, is expected to be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and video-on-demand, as well.

Locke, who'll be played by "Million Dollar Baby" actor, Colter, will also appear in next year's "Halo 5: Guardians." His role in "Nightfall" is said to be a pivotal one that will highlight his participation in "Guardians."

A presser-pitch for the digital film relates of Locke and his crew coming under a biological attack while investigating possible terrorist threats on Sedra, a distant colony world. Uncovering an ancient artifact from hell, loyalties are questioned and a fight for survival ensues.

Fans have been advised to stay tuned to IGN's Nightfall channel for further information on the North American release of "Halo: Nightfall."
