Halo: The Master Chief Collection to Be Released Nov. 11, 65GB in Size

The "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" is a compilation of one of the most iconic first-person shooter video games. The collection is scheduled for a Nov. 11 release date and is exclusive to the Xbox One. The compilation is to contain "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary," "Halo 2," "Halo 3," and "Halo 4" along with their multiplayer modes.

The games included in the compilation have not been altered in any way except for an upped frame-rate to 60fps, an increased resolution to full HD (1080p), and some lighting upgrades but the cutscenes in "Halo 2" have been redone by Blur Studios.

While waiting for the release, IGN Live has put up a streaming event where producers will be playing the features included in the collection. The stream will be live until the release of the game itself.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that the game collection will take up an immense 65GB on the Xbox One's hard drive. The game is already available for pre-loading but it would seem that the game is bigger than the standard 50GB Blu-ray disc. Microsoft has opted to include 45GB of the 65GB with the box and will make the remaining 20GB available as a content update.

Microsoft says that players will be able to play the single-player mode included in the box while waiting for the 20GB download to finish. Still, it's baffling why players will have to download so much data. Apparently, the game is designed to run as a single, unified product according to 343 Industries Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor.

"Digital is seamless obviously, but we also wanted disc users to have the same experiences, without swapping discs. Since the bulk of the download is multiplayer or MP related, the logic is sound," O'Connor explained.
