'Hannibal' finale spoilers and episode 12 recap: Is it the end of the series?

The end of the series "Hannibal" is getting nearer as the show has just been canceled by NBC and has not yet been picked up by a video-streaming site. The title of the episode is "The Wrath of the Lamb" and it alludes to the Bible and not to the other versions like the books and the movies.

The synopsis of the episode states that Will (Hugh Dancy) creates an elaborate plan to kill Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage) by using Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) as bait. Meanwhile, Bedelia (Gillian Anderson) is concerned about Will and what his plan might do to his psyche as he continues to play a game with Hannibal. Will has to confront his darkest fears while on the precipice of sanity.

Showrunner Bryan Fuller talked about the ending of the series and he promised a fulfilling conclusion for everyone. "There will be a huge move for the show, and it will be as satisfying an ending as it would have been in the first two seasons. So if we had ended with Will taking the fall for Hannibal's crimes, that would be a satisfying ending. Or if Hannibal is actually laying all of his friends to waste and walking out in the rain, that would be a satisfying ending. And this ending for season three would be as satisfying," he said. He also added that when they wrote the script for the last episode, it was written as a series finale.

In the previous episode, Will and Jack (Laurence Fishbourne) put someone in harm's way, in order to find Francis Dolarhyde also known as The Tooth Fairy killer. They enlist the help of doctor Frank Chilton (Raul Esparza), who starts taunting the killer with Will's twisted words. Doctor Chilton is then targeted by the so-called Dragon as his lips are bitten off and he is burned.

Hannibal talks to Jack about Will and he warns Jack that Will's psyche is changing once more since he just let an innocent man be put in harm's way. Jack knows all this and doesn't care since he is willing to do anything for justice even if that means sacrificing a good man.

Meanwhile, Bedelia asks Will if he is in love with Hannibal because she knows that without a shadow of a doubt that Hannibal is in love with him. Will has no answer to that question yet.

The finale of Hannibal will air this Saturday, Aug. 29.
