'Happyland' Premiere Spoilers, MTV Start Time: Expect a Big Twist in New Teen Dramedy
MTV's newest teen drama series "Happyland" is now set to premiere this coming Tuesday, Sept 30, at 11 p.m, after "Awkward" and "Faking It."
Revolving around teenage angst and romance, the setting for "Happyland" setting is rather fresh and novel in its kind. Viewers will find its main characters working at a theme park where drama happens as they interact with patrons and among themselves at the backstage.
Led by "The Fosters" actress Bianca Santos, "Happyland" will follow the life of a certain Lucy Velez who lived with her single mom, Elena (Camille Guaty), and is working at Happyland amusement park where she plays Princess Adriana.
One of the most intriguing parts of the sneak peeks is Elena, who is someone who refused to outgrow her teenage years. On and off stage, she is often found flirting and on one occasion was caught by her daughter doing so. She later introduced Lucy as her sister.
Shane Harper from "Awkward" will play Ian, the handsome son of Happyland's new president. Newly hired, he often encounters Lucy's feistiness.
However, as all teen dramas "the more you hate, the more you love" cliché often leads, Lucy and Ian find themselves falling for each other and they kissed. This is the part where Elena broke the news to her daughter that Ian could be her half-brother.
Katherine McNamara from "Contest" will also be in the show as Harper. She will, in all means possible, woo Ian even if she already has a boyfriend working at the park.
Other names to guest star on the pilot show include Brady Smith and Ryan Rottman.
