Haunted Cemeteries in West Virginia: The Creepiest Burial Places in the State Revealed [PHOTOS]

West Virginia has been a place that attracts those that are curious and/or makes a living out of paranormal encounters due to its reputation of being the Travel Channel's 2nd Most Haunted State, according to West Virginia Explorer. Creepy encounters and stories of the unknown has led us to list down the three of the Scariest and Most infamous cemeteries in the state.

1.Grave of the Devil's Baby, Ravenswood

- Ravenswood is in Jackson County of West Virginia that has held quite an intriguing reputation for in their local cemetery, it is said that the devil's baby was buried. WeekinWeird.com has featured and even dared to confirm the story of a tombstone that is said to glow at night with the baby's photo having fangs. The story also states that if you go to the cemetery at night, you will hear the baby crying. Only the glowing baby photo was confirmed.

2. Brooke Cemetery, Wellsburg

- Brooke Cemetery is a rural cemetery considered as one of National Register's Historic Places. The fine design of the cemetery's tombs and mausoleum made an impression to the public and it became the resting grounds of West Virginia's many historical people. Because of these features, it's not unusual for it to become one of the many cemeteries that was reported to be an area of hauntings. The place was affiliated to sightings of apparitions and shapes at night that leaves rumors of it being a ground for the paranormal.

 3. Riverview Cemetery, Parkersburg

- This cemetery is one of the oldest ones in West Virginia. It is the location of the well-known 'Weeping Woman', a statue of a woman crying atop of the Jackson's tomb. It became an icon to most extraordinary stories of the place. Weird US has featured the statue's story and said, "Some say that at night during a full moon, the statue stands up and walks through the graveyard, weeping over the conflict between North and South. Others claim to have seen her move and have photographed her hands in different positions." It was reported that the weeping woman adapts to the attitude of the present person. It's either she rips you apart or grants your wishes!

Dwelling with the unknown is not ideal, especially to the weak-hearted. So, better yet to stay informed and know what history is behind the places we visit and figure out beforehand if we can dare to walk into it.
