Steve was in need of a liver transplant, and with no hesitation, his best buddy was there to give half of his liver. With this milestone, a brotherhood will be built between the two characters. The bromance of the two friends will surely go further since Steve will surely owe a lot to Danny for saving his life.

Danny's Regret

Executive producer of the series Peter M. Lenkov says that the new dynamic between the two characters will surely be exciting. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said, "It brings Danny and McGarrett even closer together and it gives them another thing to be arguing about next year. Danny is going to resent the fact that he saved his life because of that. These guys are blood brothers, but now literally they are."

Family and Togetherness

Aside from the bromance, the upcoming episodes of "Hawaii Five-0" will continue its theme on legacy. Fans will see the importance of family in the characters' lives. Lenkoc told Entertainment Weekly in a previous interview that the characters will face the same realizations but will handle it differently.

He said, "The theme of next year is everybody is weighing the legacy -- or what they're doing and the affect that it has on their lives. You get to a point where you start weighing everything, and you put things in a plus and minus column, and you say, 'Is it worth it?' That's really where I want the characters to be, where they're really weighing the good that they're doing."
