Healing the Fear, Anger and Hurt in Front of Trump Tower
The church in New York City has a great opportunity to bring peace into the current chaos at Trump Tower.
Jesus Christ points out a group in the Bible that I believe I have been called into and the group is called, "Peacemakers." At certain times when mayhem and unrest are happening in the country I feel compelled to respond. There is a Holy Spirit tug that happens, in which I feel like I am sinning if I do not go.
In these moments I become an effective tool in the hands of a loving God. I have been useful in stopping the riots in Baltimore, Charleston, St. Paul and the like. Last week, I spent several days down at Trump Tower and Jesus Christ showed up every night. I have ministered to teenagers and counseled people through their pain and profound sense of hopelessness.

I led prayer with hundreds of people in the LBGTQ community and they welcomed it. (Only one lesbian yanked on my arm to try to stop the prayer, and she seemed to be deranged.) I brought sound equipment down and preached the love of Christ and taught that Jesus Christ died for all sinners including gay people. I prayed for the president-elect to be better than he was in the election, and people expressed we need God's help.
The Body of Christ has a great opportunity to live out James 3:18 which reads,
"Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace."
The phrase "sown in peace" is a direct reference to teachers of the Word. New Testament scholar, Scott McKnight wrote on this point saying,
"It is the addition of 'is sown in peace' which most likely refers to the teachers themselves and those who 'make peace'."
The pastors in NYC and elsewhere are the teachers that should show up to Trump Tower in a spirit of peace to minister to the fear, anger and hurt of the weary and wounded in our city. I have been on the ground there and I am firmly testifying that we have a great shot to minister to the brokenhearted. The opportunity may not be there long, so I suggest we mobilize and present the love of Jesus while the soil is soft.
Jesus richly instructs in Matthew 11:28-30 saying,
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Let's help point people away from Trump and Hillary to the real burden lifter: Christ Jesus, our Lord.
