Heath Ledger's parents have said during a recent interview that their granddaughter is very much like their late son.
Heath Ledger died in 2008 after an accidental drug overdose. He was in the process of filming "The Dark Knight" in the role of the Joker.
After his death, he left behind a daughter whom he had with Michelle Williams named Matilda Rose. Matilda was only three at the time. Ledger had split from Williams the year before his death.
"Matilda is indeed very much like her dad- she has long limbs and similar features," Ledger's mother, Sally, told New Idea, an Australian magazine. "However, she also possesses the beauty of her mamma- lucky girl."
Both of Ledger's parents still live in Australia, although they make frequent attempts to see their granddaughter, Matilda, who is now seven.
"Matilda has the same walk as Heath and is such a respectful little kid- she calls us 'Papa' and 'Grandma Sal.' Our family has the most wonderful relationship with both Matilda and Michelle. We talk frequently and visit as often as we can," Ledger's father, Kim, told the magazine.
Williams won a Golden Globe in 2012 for her role in "My Week With Marilyn." She dedicated her acceptance speech to her daughter, who she stated was her life.
"I consider myself a mother first and an actress second, and so the person I most want to thank is my daughter, my little girl, whose bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and in my life," Williams said on stage.
Afterwards, she added that she would be taking a break from acting in order to spend more time with Matilda. The pair was seen together all summer, dressing alike.
