'Hellboy 3' News, Update: Director Guillermo Del Toro Says Film is Dependent on the Success of 'Pacific Rim 2'

The talks for the highly-anticipated final installment to Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy" trilogy, "Hellboy 3" has come up yet again when the director showed up during the 2015 San Diego Comic Con promotion of his latest Gothic horror flick, "Crimson Peak."

The 50-year-old filmmaker revealed that like Ron Perlman, who plays Hellboy, he is also eager to make the third sequel a reality. However, there are huge factors that are to be considered.

"The hard fact is that the movie's going to need about $120 million and there's nobody knocking down our doors to give it to us. It's a little beyond Kickstarter. It would be great to complete the trilogy, but in a way I don't see the world – the industry – supporting that idea," Del Toro told The Daily Beast.

The "Pan's Labyrinth" director went on to say that there could only be one way to make "Hellboy 3" arrive to the theaters – make his next film "Pacific Rim 2" a huge hit.

Last month, Perlman took to his social media to update his fans about the real score of the film.

"I don't have any news for you, but there's always a chance," the "Sons of Anarchy star said. "I'm getting to that age where, if I waited much longer, 'Hellboy 3' will be performed out of a wheelchair. So I was basically trying to say, if there's going to be this thing, it should be sooner rather than later."

However, he points out that he doesn't wish for the audience to foot the bill.

"I wouldn't want to be involved in a crowdfunding. I don't think it's the fans' job to fund a movie; I think it's up to the people who do it professionally. I think it's the fans' job to sit back and buy popcorn and Coke and watch a movie and enjoy it," he explained.

"Hellboy 3 was designed to resolve the dilemma of whether the beast of the apocalypse would live up to his oracle, his destiny of destroying mankind, or whether the best that we've seen nurtured all of these years, who's taken his immense super power, and used it in the opposite way to protect mankind -- which one will win out?" the 65-year-old actor teased.

"The destiny part of it is unnegotiable, and irreversible, so something rather dramatic has to happen in the third movie to find out which Hellboy prevails," he added.
