Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, announced his bid for the White House on Saturday.

"I’m running for president of the United States. I’m not running for second!" he proclaimed in Atlanta, according to Politico.

Cain enters the 2012 presidential race just as polls indicate there is no clear GOP frontrunner, especially after Mike Huckabee chose not to run.

Another big name, Donald Trump, will also not be on the list of GOP candidates.

The latest Gallup poll indicates that Cain is among the lesser known Republican candidates. The former business executive only has a 29 percent name recognition among Republicans.

In comparison, Newt Gingrich has an 84 percent name recognition and Ron Paul is recognized by 76 percent of Republicans, according to Gallup. Both have announced their run for the presidency.

Notably, however, Cain has the highest positive intensity score (24) among all official and potential GOP candidates.

In his announcement video, Cain presented himself as a man who can relate to the rest of the American people and as a man of faith.

"Today, I am announcing that I am running for President of the United States of America. America craves for real solutions to the problems we face. That's why I'm running for president."

"It won't be easy but we can turn this country around. There is no greater force on earth than the united will of the American people. The sleeping giant, we the people, have awakened."

Providing a brief look into who he is, Cain, who is African American, said in the video that his father worked three jobs to put food on the table while his mother was a domestic worker. His father was eventually able to buy his own home and see his two sons graduate from college.

"That was his American dream," he said.

Cain also mentioned that he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (of the liver and colon) and had only a 30 percent chance of surviving, at least according to what the doctors told him. Today, he is cancer free.

With images of his church in the video, Cain made his belief in God clear.

"If we believe in God, if we believe in ourselves and we believe in the United States of America then we can do great things," he said. "Let us remind the world that our rights do not come from a man nor a committee nor a tsar but from our Creator."

In an earlier interview with The Christian Post, Cain said his faith plays a big part in all the decisions he makes. He also said that he believes all the talents he has been given by God should be used for something truly significant.
