'Heroes of the Storm' 2.0 Preview: Cassia In; Genji Next?

A new "Diablo 2" character has been recently added to Blizzard Entertainment's multiplayer online battle arena video game, "Heroes of the Storm."

The recent 2.0 update brings in Cassia, the feisty Amazon of the role-playing game. This is reportedly to commemorate the 20th anniversary of "Diablo." Cassia is a duelist who wields a javelin and shield. She works particularly well with Johanna, the crusader.

According to Eurogamer, senior game producer Tony Hsu said in an interview that the addition of Cassia offers so much more to the MOBA. He is especially interested in the Cassia-Johanna, Cassia-Li Li mishmash.

"Cassia brings implications to the draft. Maybe I've never thought of putting Johanna together with Cassia, or Li Li with an assassin - in other cases you might take Brightwing for mobility. Now that I get synergies with blinds, maybe Cassia's the better option along with Li Li. It gives you a different perspective, a different lens of how you want to play the game and which characters might interact with each other," Hsu said.

Meanwhile, aside from the Cassia addition, the update has also introduced new items, currencies, as well as a new reward system. Rewards and loots will be given to players for every level reached. The account level caps have been removed. Reward chests will also be awarded for special player level milestones. These chests may contain interesting items. For the hero level, specific rewards will be given. Players may also unlock cosmetic items like emoji packs and banners.

Meanwhile, Polygon reports that the next "Overwatch" character to be included in the MOBA is Genji. The cyborg ninja is allegedly visible in a fan video shot at Blizzard's France location. If the speculations are true, he will be the fourth "Overwatch" character in "Heroes of the Storm" after Tracer, Zarya and Lucio.
