'Heroes: Reborn' Actor Zachary Levi Talks About Getting the Role of Luke

There isn't much to reveal about Zachary Levi's character in the upcoming revival series of NBC's hit supernatural TV drama series "Heroes," which is aptly called "Heroes: Reborn."

The "Chuck" star talks about how excited he was to land the role of Luke in Reborn.

"Chuck was great obviously, but flying around and shooting lightning bolts out of your hands — all that stuff is so cool, especially as a comic-book kid," he told Entertainment Weekly. "When somebody sent me an article saying they're going to do a Heroes: Reborn miniseries, I was like, 'Sign me up!'"

When asked by the publication as to why he was so eager to grab the new role, the actor explained:

"I think that any chance you get as an actor to spread your wings a little bit and challenge yourself is important, and also to challenge other people's perceptions of you and what you do."

Without revealing too much, the 34-year-old actor went on to speak about how important it is for him and other cast members to "connect" with their respective characters.

"We are portraying real people but with real loss and real grief and complications you want to always be able to go through it in a way that makes sense in your heart,to bring that character to life in a real way because that's ultimately what the audience is connecting to," Levi said.

As reported earlier, Levi's Luke is bent on exacting his revenge on the people with extraordinary abilities who are blamed for the attack in Odessa, Texas. The tragic event consequently killed one of Luke's loved ones.
