'Hitman' News: PS4 Beta Opens This Weekend

"Hitman" is one of this year's most anticipated games and it is bringing back the assassin known as Agent 47 in what is called a reboot of the game series. Fans who are wondering what the game will look like and how it will play will get a chance to take it for a spin when it opens its beta for PS4 owners on February 12, Friday.

According to a report in Tech Times, PS4 console owners will get first dibs, while PC gamers can participate in the beta for their platform starting February 19. The main requirement for beta participation is preordering the game for either platform.

The beta is said to feature only one portion of the upcoming game, the prologue, where the player is Agent 47 and is assigned to infiltrate a facility which is said to be a top secret recruitment and training facility. The prologue is also said to set the back story of Agent 47 and how he came to join the ICA. Square Enix described it as "an introduction to the gameplay features and mechanics in 'Hitman' and two free-form training hits." As with previous "Hitman" games, players can re-do their mission several times, exploring the many ways by which they can achieve their mission.

Recently, Square Enix announced that the game will be "episodic," with only one portion arriving on March 11, and subsequent "episodes" will be released as paid content releases in the months of April and May. The reason behind this, according to them, is for Square Enix to be able to "respond to feedback" and "study player behavior" which is not possible if they release it the usual way.

The announcement also came with a special beta launch trailer which features a conversation between a Ms. Burnwood and a man while they discuss the fate of the man that is now known as Agent 47. The man commented how Agent 47 seemed to have the uncanny ability of not having any "weak spots" or "pressure points." Towards the end of the trailer, Ms. Burnwood ultimately chooses Agent 47 because of his impressive skills and stealth.
