Homeland Season 4 Release Date, Spoilers: New Season Hints Given by Star Claire Danes

Showtime's hit political thriller TV series "Homeland" is now set for their season 4 premiere in October and fans of the show are already hankering for spoilers. Here's what has been rounded up so far.

Earlier last week, Showtime released the latest trailer for the upcoming season showing a bit of more details on what's going to happen. As revealed in the teaser, this season will delve deeper into the emotional aspect of its characters.

According to The Guardian, it looks like the show will take a break from its "action-heavy" theme into a more thoughtful look of its characters suffering from the effects of secret war that America has waged in the Middle East.

"It hasn't been a 14-year war we've been waging, but a one-year war -- waged 14 times," Mandy Patinkin's Saul Berenson said in a voiceover.

There's also revealed in the teaser a mysterious mission that Claire Danes' CIA intelligence officer Carrie Mathison was ordered to go back. Fans of the show already have some hints that the mission will once again involve checking up a "kill list" in Pakistan.

While in attendance to the recent Emmy Awards, the 35-year-old "Stardust" actress shed some light on what to expect for the next season.

"This is the first season is based in foreign territory," she told reporters. "We're seeing what espionage work is on the ground. It is full of adventure."

Furthermore, showrunner Alex Gansa told reporters from TVGuide "the show is about the private and public costs of keeping America safe. That's the overarching theme of the season."

Season 4 of "Homeland" returns on air this Sunday, Oct. 5.
