'Homeland' Season 5 Spoilers News: Show to Jump Ahead in Time

For fans of the hit political thriller TV series "Homeland" who speculated that CIA officer Carrie Mathison might be quitting the force, the latest casting news suggests that this could be the case.

A report from Variety cited executive producer Alex Gansa revealing that Claire Danes' character "will no longer be an intelligence officer."

Speaking during the opening session of PaleyFest at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Friday, the showrunner dropped some crumbs of information about the upcoming season of the show.

It was found out that the time frame for "Homeland" Season 5 "will jump ahead two and a half years from where it left off" Season 4.

It was also stated that filming for the fifth installment will commence in Europe, "probably in Germany," in the later part of 2015. The previous filming production took place in Cape Town, South Africa, as substitute for the Pakistan location.

Also present during the panel is cast member Claire Danes who shed some light on the possible romantic Carrie-Quinn (Rupert Friend) storyline.

"It was handled really beautifully and really intelligently," she said referring to the relationship the two characters shared near the end of Season 4. "That dynamic was always fun because, in some ways, he is so similar to her and she is so rarely challenged by an outlier. .... That kind of exposed a different vulnerability that we don't typically see in her."

"They both struggle with intimacy, and I think that it was actually very interesting because he was kind of pulling with her to be human and emotionally connected and she was not in a position to hear him and responded very violently," the actress explained.

"Homeland" returns for a brand new Season 5 later this year on Showtime.
