A mug shot of Honey Boo Boo's mother, June, has raised controversy in light of a recently discovered child services investigation.
Honey Boo Boo, named Alana, who first starred in "Toddler's and Tiaras" as a baby beauty queen, has been made famous alongside her mother for the new show spin off "Here Come's Honey Boo Boo." The new show focuses on Honey's family who describes themselves as rednecks, and Honey's mother June, who call herself the "coupon queen."
But with continued publicity many are beginning to question June and her husband Mike Thomson as parents, after a number of episodes have revealed her partaking in questionable actions. June has been particularly questioned for not providing Honey Boo Boo, who is now 6, with a healthy diet.
In recent episodes the six-year-old was seen eating on nearly expired junk food and road kill for dinner. In previous episodes June has also given her daughter a special "juice" which contained a mix of Mountain Dew and Red Bull.
The poor diet in addition to a number of other questionable parenting habits resulted in a child services visit in March. Social workers proceeded by taking June to court over child custody issues, although her lawyers successfully argued to have the case dismissed.
A source told Mail Online that "investigators were called to the home as a result of June and Mr Thompson's unorthodox parenting methods, which include feeding Alana caffeinated drinks as well as roadkill for dinner."
Now a new mug shot photo of June has been released which reveals that she had previously been arrested and charged with "theft" and "contempt of court." The charges are believed to have stemmed from early child custody battles in 2008, during which June was charged with not paying child support. It was previously not public knowledge that June had been arrested and has shocked some fans of the show.
