'House of Cards' Season 6 Spoilers: Will Doug Leave Frank for Claire?

Douglas Stamper's (Michael Kelly) loyalty to Frank (Kevin Spacey) will be tested in the next season of "House of Cards."

Although Doug has proven, time and again, that the former POTUS can rely on him, there is still a chance that he will end up betraying him. With Claire (Robin Wright) ascending to power in the new installment, Frank is slowly losing his position as one of the most powerful men in the country. In a past interview, Kelly said that his character still believes that Frank is the only one capable of leading the US to become better and stronger. In fact, he and LeAnn Harvey (Neve Campbell) share the same belief, so they will be working together to bring Frank back to power.

"We are going to do some bad things along the way, but it's all for the greater good for the American people — we both believe Frank Underwood is the perfect person to the lead the country. But yeah, it's bad for the greater good," Kelly said.

Doug may have been loyal in the first part of the season, but there is no telling what will happen in the future. Claire is shaping up to be the most beloved of all the presidents. She is destined to be more influential than Frank as the citizens begin appreciating her sincerity and skills. Doug may be swayed into joining Claire's camp. If this happens, Frank might be in trouble. Without his most loyal aide, he will not be the same shrewd politician he used to be. He may not want to admit it, but half of his success was due to Doug.

Meanwhile, IB Times reported that production for season 6 will start at the end of the month. Filming is said to take place in Harford County, Maryland. Jack Gerbes, executive director of the Maryland Film Office, has expressed excitement over the series' upcoming activities.

"We're excited, very excited, because not only does it put a great spotlight on Maryland and Harford County, but the prime reason we go to attract these productions is the economic impact on the state of Maryland," Gerbes said.

"House of Cards" season 6 is rumored to air in May 2018.
