'How to Get Away With Murder' Season 2 Spoilers, Cast News: Is It Maternal Instincts That Is Making Annalise Protect Wes?

It would be safe to say that "How to Get Away With Murder" is one of the most unpredictable shows on TV right now. It seems that no assumption should be made, especially with how the characters act and how their lives are entertwined. One of the latest baits the show introduced is the connection between Wes and Annalise.

Ever since the beginning of the show, Annalise had somehow taken a liking to Wes. Over the course of the series, it was undeniable that the two had built a trust unlike other characters. Although for others characters, it can easily be passed on as sexual attraction; however, for Wes and Annalise, the two have always given a different and more loyal vibe. In the latest episode in which Eve finds out and confronts Annalise about protecting Wes, Annalise simply utters, "It's him." Those words were enough to keep viewers on the edge of their seat.

Showrunner Pete Nowalk was recently interviewed by TVLine, and among the long list of questions, this was definitely one that many was looking forward to knowing more. When asked who Wes exactly is, Nowalk did not give a direct answer but instead gave more details about the secret that Annalise and Eve shared about Wes, "Obviously, Eve and Annalise have a secret. And bringing Famke [Janssen] back — with all the history between them — I really wanted Eve to know something about Annalise that nobody else did. It's one of the questions I get the most. "Why does Annalise connect to Wes? What's the deal there?" At this point, we have to start to inch toward the answer."

Nowalk further added that he understands the frustration of the audiences but did assure fans that an answer will be served, even if there is a chance that it won't happen in the current season. Nowalk states, "Since the whole season's not written, I can't promise anything. But we will provide more answers than you got in this episode — for sure. It's not our goal to frustrate people; it's our goal to intrigue people. And part of that intrigue is giving you answers."
