How Was Jesus Born?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

Mary was amazed at what she heard! An angel told her, "You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High" (Luke 1:31-32). Mary didn't know how this could happen. She was a virgin. Without touching her in any physical way, God would place the baby within her. It was a miracle!

God gave Mary a husband named Joseph. He would help Mary take care of the baby Jesus. Joseph knew that God Himself was Jesus' real Father. An angel had visited Joseph, too, with the news. Perhaps he had read what the prophets had said about the coming Savior.

There was no room to stay in Bethlehem. Jesus was born in a stable. The Bible says, " . . . She [Mary] wrapped Him [Jesus] in cloths and placed Him in a manger [a feeding place for animals]" (Luke 2:7). This was all part of God's plan. Everything about His birth had come true, just as the prophets had said. This tiny baby lying in the manger was the Savior of the world!
