HTC Butterfly 2 vs LG G3 Review: Price and Specs Comparison Shows HTC Phone Can Compete

HTC has earned a lot of fans with its Desire and One line, but those are not the only phones from the Taiwanese maker that are worth your time. The HTC Butterfly 2, for instance, is a phone that can go head to head with even the much lauded HTC One M8, and despite its name, the handset has a powerful processor and camera, making it anything but a lightweight in the smartphone arena.

Meanwhile LG has created major buzz with its LG G3, a device so impressive that it managed to outsell the Samsung Galaxy S5 by three times since its initial launch in Korea. Here, we compare the two devices.

Design:
The Butterfly 2 takes its design cues from the M8 with its size and shape, while retaining the shiny colors and plastic shell of the older Butterfly S. The phone measures 5.72 x 2.76 x 0.39 inches and weighs 5.33 ounces. It has an IP 57 rating, making it dustproof and waterproof when submerged in 1 meter of water. The phone is available in glossy red, blue, and white.

The LG G3 has the same rounded corners as the G2, but instead of the glossy plastic found on its predecessor, the G3 has a metallic back. The smartphone measures 5.76 x 2.94 x 0.35 inches and weighs 5.26 ounces. The phone is available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet, and Burgundy Red.

Features:
The Butterfly 2 has a 5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pixel density of 441ppi, while the G3 has a bigger display at 5.5 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and pixel density of 538ppi.

Both phones are equipped with a 13MP rear-facing camera, but the Butterfly 2 has the advantage with its 5MP front-facing shooter versus the G3's 2.1MP front camera.

Both are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with the G3 running on Android Lollipop, while the Butterfly 2 runs on the Android KitKat with HTC Sense UI on top. Both devices come with 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via micro SD card.

Price:
Off contract, the HTC Butterfly 2 costs $659 while the LG G3 costs $699.
