HTC Desire Eye: Specs, Features, Price Revealed

HTC is a force to be reckoned with as the company continues to roll out innovative devices that rival those from other companies. Recently, it launched the Desire Eye, touted as the ultimate "selfie phone" in the market. But apart from that distinction, it is also a powerful Android device in its own right.

The smart phone features a two-toned plastic body with rounded sides and a matte finish. It measures 5.97 x 2.91 x 0.33 inches and weighs 5.43 ounces. Along the edge of the phone are the buttons for Power, Volume, and Camera, while the opposite side has the nano SIM and microSD card slots.

The Desire Eye is water-resistant as it carries an IPX7 water-resistance rating, and it can stand to be submerged into one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The display measures 5.2 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The HTC smartphone is powered by a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. It runs on the Android KitKat 4.4 with HTC's Sense 6 Skin. It has an internal storage of 16GB.

Still, what makes this device so special are the cameras. Whereas other phones usually have a main camera with higher megapixels than its front-facing camera, the Desire Eye features a main and front-facing camera, both with 13-megapixel sensors and dual-LED flash. The front-facing camera also has a wider angle lens. So far, no other phone equipped with a front-facing camera equals that of the Desire Eye's.

Extra photo modes are also included in the phone, and for those who would like to edit their selfies right away, the Desire Eye has a Live Makeup slider, wherein adjusting the slider results to better skin by blurring imperfections and giving skin a healthier and more even tone.

The HTC Desire Eye is available from AT&T and is priced at $149.99 with contract.
