HTC Hima Aero on AT&T – Is This the New HTC 'Hero' Phone?

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC is trying to gain a foothold in the U.S. smartphone market. Most of the phones the company recently released have not been doing well in the market, but HTC hopes to change their luck with the upcoming release of a high-end smartphone specifically for the U.S. market, if reports turn out to be true.

According to a report in Tech Times, a reliable source of the leak about the new HTC phone is Evan Blass, also known on Twitter as @EvLeaks. The new phone is reportedly being released to the U.S. through AT&T, and is codenamed Hima Aero. The company will be reportedly releasing the phone in the fourth quarter of the year.

In early June, there was also news about HTC developing and eventually coming up with a new series of "hero" phones. This was announced by CEO Cher Wang during a meeting with investors, in an effort to somewhat remedy the poor sales performance of the company's latest flagship, the HTC One M9. During that meeting, Wang revealed that the new hero phone will be coming in October, carrying with it a new look and design as well as "innovative changes" in terms of specifications. It seems likely that the Hima Aero is this new line of phones which the company hopes to add to its existing lines.

Aside from the codename, its estimated release and the fact that it will be available through AT&T, not a lot is known about the Hima Aero. Some reports are saying it will sport the newest chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 820 as well as have a Quad HD resolution display, which is already available on the One M9+, the One E9+ and the One ME. There is also a possibility that the release may not just be limited to one carrier.

Blass also said that the phone may also be released in the European market.
