HTC One Android 4.4, KitKat Update Rolls Out to More Customers

The HTC One Android 4.4, KitKat update is now available in Europe.

HTC UK confirmed this in a Tweet earlier this week.

"We started rolling out Android #KitKat 4.4 for the HTC One in the U.K. Settings>About>Software Updates> Check now!," tweeted the company.

The update is also expected to hit other "select markets" over the next few weeks. Germany, Italy, Spain and France are reporting that they are currently receiving the update.

The HTC One Android 4.4.2, KitKat update started rolling out for AT&T and T-Mobile earlier this week.

Mo Versi, HTC's Executive Director of Product Management, recently confirmed that both networks have given technical approval to the Android 4.4 update. Shortly after that, users on both carriers began reporting that they were receiving it.

"T-Mobile HTC One Owner! We have received technical approval for 4.4 OS + Sense 5.5! Expect the OTA out shortly! Thank you for your patience," tweeted Versi. "Another Great News! We have received AT&T's technical approval for the HTC One w/4.4+ Sense 5.5. Looking to get the OTA out soon."

The latest Android software brings some new features to the HTC One including the ability to turn BlinkFeed off and make changes to the gallery. There should also be a few carrier specific changes with each company.

The Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update release has arrived for U.S. Cellular customers.

The company began offering the latest Android software OTA (over-the-air) earlier this week, and several customers have confirmed they received the update successfully.

The update is also available for the International variant of the Galaxy S4 in Russia and India. Users can check for it manually if they haven't received a notification in the Settings menu.
